A Peppermint (Candy Cane) Interlude

I am not sure when this unhealthy attachment to candy canes began. Was it Holiday 1985 or Holiday 1986? Was it the moment my mom happened upon a “too-good-to-pass-up” candy cane sale and brought home hundreds of the iconic Christmas candy. (This would be the same year that every gift tag was anchored by a candy cane and our Christmas tree was overly laden – drooping – with them. Mom didn’t let one go to waste).

Though I can’t pinpoint the moment I went down the peppermint rabbit hole, at least I can admit that I went down it. I will emerge again, candy cane free, on December 26th. But until then, I hope you will join myself and Renato in all things Chocolate and Peppermint. After all, candy canes (and their dime store candy cousins) are a triple threat when added to desserts: tasty, textured, and full of visual flair. So, naturally, with the Holiday season in full swing we thought a little recap was in order:

First up, a new video (recipe is posted below video on YouTube page) of us (rather frantically) making Chocolate and Peppermint Brownies.

If you don’t have time to make your brownies from scratch, we created an amazing mix (using the same high quality ingredients we use at the bakery) for Williams-Sonoma. Makes a lovely host/hostess gift as well. (Hint…)

Do you want a Chocolate and Peppermint Thumbprint Cookie recipe? Good thing you came here. (Yup, recipe is posted below the video on the YouTube page).

And let’s not forget about Bundts. WE LOVE BUNDTS!!! And we really encourage you to make this Peppermint Chocolate Bundt Cake (recipe here).

And if you make the above Bundt (which you should) you might want to make it in our very own Limited Edition Baked Bundt Pan (we still have a few left…).

Thanks for letting me/us ramble on about candy canes. We thought it was prudent to gather all the Peppermint/Chocolate recipes in one place for your viewing pleasure. Have a great (and minty) Holiday!
